In observance of America’s birthday, Knitting Etc will be closed this Thursday, July 4.
When we re-open on Friday, July 5, we will celebrate with a “Happy Hour” sale as we usually do on first Friday of every month: all yarns red, white or blue will be 20% off*. So get patriotic with your knitting, and save! And while you’re planning your long weekend, be sure to include time to join us on Friday, from 5 to 7ish, for good company and munchies at our monthly Happy Stitching Hour. Bring your knitting, crochet, weaving, or spinning projects. We look forward to seeing you and whatever you are working on Friday!
* Sale prices apply to in-stock items and cannot be combined with other discounts. Knitting Etc. staff will make reasonable determinations of “red,” “white,” and “blue” shades.

Schacht Ladybug Spinning Wheel
Teresa Porri will demonstrate how to spin gorgeous yarns on a drop spindle, a Schacht Ladybug Spinning Wheel, and the new Schacht Sidekick Spinning Wheel on Saturday, July 13, 1 to 4 pm. Ladybug wheels are the prettiest wheels with a double pedal so your one leg doesn’t get tired while the new Sidekick wheels are foldable for easy travel. Teresa will be showing you some of her own handspun yarns as well. Come see how much fun it is to spin your own yarn!
Knitting Etc. has roving in both natural and dyed colors in stock and carries Schacht spinning wheels for your spinning fun! Check out the upcoming spinning classes! This demo is free. Just stop by and check it out.
Weaving produces fabric with a very different feel from knitted pieces. Using the Schacht rigid heddle looms that we carry in the shop, you can make beautiful designs like these after some basic instructions. Interested in giving weaving a try? Susan Mehringer will be hosting a weaving demo on Saturday, June 29 from 10 am to 1 pm where you can give these looms a try. The event is free, but please call 277-1164 or e-mail sales@KnittingEtcIthaca.com to RSVP so we know how many to expect. We will have samples for her upcoming weaving classes on display.
On display in the shop right now is Susan’s work-in-progress. Once finished, Susan will be selling raffle tickets for the scarf to raise money for Hospicare’s Women Swimmin’ event.
Come play our yarn bingo this summer! YARNO cards are available at our counter in the store. If your purchase applies to one of the squares, we’ll mark it off for you. You work towards winning a $20 gift card to Knitting Etc.
Check out Melanie’s Feed Bag Totes while you are here. They are made from re-used materials, light weight, water proof, and in a perfect size for sweater or blanket knitting project. Or you can use them for farmer’s market veggies, or beach picnics!
