This is my favorite blanket technique.  The garter stitch is simple enough for beginners, graduates of Knitting Basics, as well as everyone else of course. We’ll discuss various techniques for picking up stitches, edging options, some color theory for planning out your blanket.

There are two pattern choices, Mason Dixon or Cottage Creations.  We’ll discuss variations on the traditional log cabin pieces, asymmetrical squares, many squares put together or one big one!

Join us for this social knitting time, meet some new people, re-connect with others, and just hang out. We’ll chat, knit, stitch, wind down after the long work week, and shop this month’s Happy Hour Sale!  We will not be offering any knitting instructions or help, just a knitting visit…. I’m so excited about this! Connie Chang Chinchio is coming to Knitting Etc. for a book signing and trunk show from 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, May 6. Her book Textured Stitches, published by Interweave Press, came out last fall. If you don’t have a copy yet, come get one! Connie started designing knitwear when she was working on her Ph.D. at Cornell. Her designs have appeared in numerous magazines, books, and single patterns. You can see many of her designs on her web site. Connie will be bringing her samples from the book for show and tell and answer questions.

Thanks to everyone who showed up over the weekend for our Spring Sale! We had lots of fun seeing many familiar faces as well as new knitters who saw our print and radio ads and stopped by to check us out.
