Starting tomorrow Sunday, January 29 until Saturday, February 4, our entire button collection is 30% or 50% off (actually, there are a few 75% off buttons as well)! We have a great selection of buttons in stock. Whether you need buttons to dress up the new sweater you are working on or a special button to decorate that new felted bag, we have the buttons for you! Come see!
Thinking about knitting a sweater this winter? How about joining a group of knitters making a gorgeous Aran sweater from Alice Starmore’s Aran Knitting book? Deborah Dawson, one of our staff, will be leading an Aran Sweater Knit-Along that will meet from 7 to 9 pm on Monday, February 6, February 27, April 2, and April 30. This free knit-along is more about good company taking on similar challenging projects, sharing ideas and inspirations, instead of individual instructions and learning new techniques. If you find yourself in over your head, we’d be happy to catch you up with a private lesson. Advanced sign up with yarn purchase is required to join the knit along. We are looking for at least 7 people and no more than 15.
Deborah will be knitting the Irish Moss Sweater. This elegant pullover, full of curvy lines and delicate cables, provides lots of textural interest without adding bulk. Both woman’s and man’s versions are available in the book. You will become an expert at cables and twisted and traveling stitches as a result of this anything-but-boring knitting experience. As an added plus, this pattern looks as gorgeous in colors as it does in the creamy natural colors of traditional aran knitting. You can choose any sweater you like from this book. We ask that you have some experience in knitting sweaters and cables to join this group. If you’re not sure come chat with us and we’ll discuss options.
We just discovered a major error in scheduling…. The first meetup for Laura Nelkin’s Kinetik Mystery KAL is supposed to be tomorrow (Thursday, January 19) from 6 to 8 pm. Laura agreed to the January 19 date, but somehow the event was written down as January 18 on our calendar.
We are very sorry for our mistake. Laura will be here from 6 to 8 pm tomorrow and hopes to see all the works-in-progress!
Newly arrived from Rowan is Creative Focus Worsted. This lovely blend of single-ply wool (75%) and alpaca (25%) provides excellent stitch definition and comes in a spectrum of classic colors. Of course, we also have the requisite lovely Rowan pattern book City Retreat for Creative Focus Worsted. The book contains a collection of 10 beautiful but yet simple patterns that showcase this excellent yarn. I love the “Liberty” hoodie by Martin Storey.
Are you doing Laura Nelkin’s Kinetik Mystery KAL? Laura is hosting meetups at Knitting Etc in January and February as part of the project! This is your chance to ask questions, get support, and take guesses at what you are making. The first meetup is tomorrow evening, January 18, from 6 to 8 pm. Bring your work in progress and questions to knit with Laura!
