Let us be your guide as we walk you through the process of reading patterns and knitting a a swatch for gauge. Along the way, you will learn how to set up your seamless sweater, whether it’s knit from the top down or the bottom up, finishing techniques for a sweater you will be proud to wear, and tips to size a pattern to fit your shape.

Bump Yarn Rug Weaving (on Oct 1)

One 3-hour class; $30 + tax & supplies

Bug Yarn Rug Weaving

Weave a rug with Bump yarn! This super bulky yarn with alpaca spun around a cotton core from Autumn Mist Alpaca Farm and Fiber Mill is amazing.  The texture is deliciously soft and thick.  It comes in 100 yard bumps, enough to knit, crochet, or weave a baby soft alpaca rug!

Using a warp of strong, thin cotton (provided for the class) and weft of Bump yarn results in a colorful, soft rug. One bag of Bump yarn makes a runner about 2′ x 6′ or several smaller rugs. Bump yarn is available in different colors and results in built-in stripes.

Autumn Mist Superbulky Alpaca

In this single-session class we’ll warp the loom, start weaving, discuss shuttle options, cover joining ends, and fringe/edge choices. You’ll complete weaving the piece on your own.

Saori Weaving (on Oct 8)

One 3-hour class; $30 + tax & supplies

Saori1Saori Weaving

Based on the Japanese tradition of admiring nature’s “beauty with lack of intentions” and adopting it into a variety of art forms, Saori weaving deviates from the traditional desire for regularity and clean lines by celebrating free expression and the irregularities are inherent in hand worked creations.

Come join Susan for an evening of adventure as you expand your weaving horizons and free yourself to experiment with different materials and techniques to create a one of a kind piece of fiber art.  In this single session class, we’ll discuss yarn options and mixtures, warp the loom, start weaving, and discuss yarn and color changes.  You will complete weaving the piece on your own.

Finished-Object-Gallery-Night
Lovely yarn walks out the door with gorgeous patterns, but rarely do we get to see the end products! How did they all end?

We want to see (and you want to show off) your finished products at Finished Object Gallery Night on Friday, August 22, 6 – 8 pm. Bring or wear your finished object and we’ll display them. Be prepared to ask and answer lots of questions from your fellow crafters about patterns and yarn selection. Did you enjoy the process? What was tricky? Were you challenged to learn something new? What drew you to commit to this project?

We’ll provide snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. You are welcome to bring wine. And friends! Come be inspired by our amazing community of fiber enthusiasts. See what gets others excited about our craft! You might just stumble onto your next project.
